Where have we been?
Shell Bay Seafood restaurant
Named by The Times as one of the UK's Best Beachside Restaurants, Shell Bay can be found nestled at the end of Studland Beach, with stunning panoramic views of Poole Harbour and Brownsea Island. In terms of location, Shell Bay is hard to beat, you can almost feel the sand between your toes as you sit and take in the surroundings.
You can reach Shell Bay via a Chain Ferry from Sandbanks, or by boat to the nearby private pontoon, this little 'overseas adventure' only adds to the charm and experience. The restaurant is simply furnished, unpretentious and relaxed, with the focus firmly on fresh and locally caught seafood & sourced produce.
After much deliberation I ordered Smoked Salmon, Apple, Radish, & Pickled Kohlrabi, followed by Local Cajun Mackerel & Isle of Wight Heritage Tomato Salsa - both delicious, light & perfect for lunch. My friend was equally enamoured with her Seared Cornish Scallops, Sweetcorn Chowder, Parma Ham & Pea Shoots, followed by Tiger Prawn Skewer, Tabbouleh & Moroccan Dressing. We were in Seafood heaven & relieved to see that we could also bring our non-seafood loving Husbands back one day for the Steak.
This tranquil spot is perfect for whiling away an afternoon with a chilled glass of Rose & a plate of seafood, or for a romantic evening with the best sunset views in Dorset (although easily mistaken for the South of France!)
